Here is one of the best free Internet war games demos available. The Battlefield 2 free demo game is a hugely popular download. This team combat shooter from EA Games gives you time limited rounds on their Gulf of Oman map.
In single player mode you get to play 10 minute rounds on the 16-player map. In multiplayer mode you play for 12 minutes on the 16 or 32 player map.
This is a good example of how computer games just keep getting better and better. The game engine and physics system running Battlefield 2 are new and improved.
Your gameplay is more realistic and more fun. Now, different weapons can penetrate different materials. Meaning, that just being hidden does not necessarily mean you're protected.

In this free Internet war games demo, the US Marine Corps has landed on a Persian Gulf beach near a MEC airbase.
Single player mode puts you into what's called the "Instant Battle" scenario of intense squad based battles on a map designed to offer you non-stop action.
Choose your level, Easy - Veteran - Expert, and them click 'Start Single Player'.
After the game loads (takes one or two minutes on my machine) you choose to be either a US Marine or a MEC soldier. The Marines are trying to capture the airbase while the MEC forces try to defend it.
Next, pick your weapon kit, join a squad if you want, and choose where you want your player to materialize/spawn.

This Battlefield 2 demo is a big 560 MB file. You may want to know, Gamespot is twice as fast as Download.com . But Gamespot does require a free registration.
I like using Gamespot for game download because of its speed advantage. Apparently, they do install a bit of adware, but I haven't seen any effect. The only reason I know is from being notified by my Microsoft AntiSpyware (click on online game accessories to download it for free) and McAfee Virus Scan reports.
I have had no problems with running or playing this Battlefield 2 demo game. Be aware that the game start-up and shut-down both take a minute or two.
In conclusion, the Battlefield 2 demo is one of those free Internet war games that is well worth the effort.
